Serving in our Neighborhood

Trinity responds to the call of Jesus to serve. We support many causes such as:

  • Alameda All Faiths Coalition
  • Alameda Food Bank
  • Alameda Point Collaborative
  • Alameda Warming Shelter
  • Midway Shelter
On the fourth Sunday of each month, Trinity has committed to providing the evening meal to residents at Midway Shelter. This consists of providing and delivering a main dish, salad, dessert, and juice and milk for about 20-25 people on Sunday afternoon. A sign up sheet is in the fellowship hall. You may sign up to provide the whole meal or any part of the meal. For more information, contact the Mission and Service committee chairperson.
  • Dine and Connect
On the second Monday of each month, Trinity prepares and hosts a Dine and Connect Dinner for the homeless in Alameda. Dine and Connect embodies the true spirit of Alameda by bringing together City government, nonprofits, faith organizations, and community volunteers who act with compassion, respect, care, and commitment to build a strong and sustainable community that takes care of those who are unhoused . Immanuel Lutheran Church began hosting the Dine and Connect program in 2018, feeding close to 60 homeless individuals each month and also providing them with an evening of entertainment and companionship.  In January of 2020 Trinity and Twin Towers United Methodist Church joined Immanuel by hosting additional monthly meals and in October 2020 First Congregational Church began hosting a monthly meal.  Now, there are four meals a month offered to the homeless in Alameda through this program.
  • Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (WELCA)
WELCA includes all women of the congregation as members and has, in the past, held retreats for the women of the congregation.
